Our team has launched a new online converter for creating 3D models of periodic surfaces using ToposPro data. This service converts T3G files to the widely used 3D model format, STL.This format can be used for visualization and preparing objects for 3D printing. The conversion preserves the original faceted geometry of the periodic surface defined in ToposPro. This model allows for the exploration of the original crystal cell and the geometry of its constituent faces.
The converter simultaneously creates an approximated model: the original faceted geometry is smoothed to approximate the corresponding triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS). This provides the user with two versions of the 3D model: the original faceted version and the smoothed version.
The resulting STL files can be used in 3D modeling programs and transferred to slicing programs to prepare the model for 3D printing and generate G-code.
