Dr. Natalia Kabanova returned from the XII International School of earth sciences named after Prof. L. Perchuk. The conference was held in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky from September 7 to 19, 2022. The conference was organized by the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Faculty of Geology of Moscow State University.
Natalia's oral report was devoted to computer analysis of the crystal structure of natural minerals: "Ionic conductivity in the minerals of the Khibiny, Lovozero and Kovdor massifs: crystal chemical and DFT analysis of cation diffusion". In the course of the study, a list was compiled that included all sodium-bearing minerals discovered to date, occurring in the Khibiny, Lovozero and Kovdor massifs, the conductivity of more than 200 minerals was analyzed, and quantum mechanical modeling was carried out for individual structures (for example, the mineral kapustinite). Dr. Taras Panikorovskiy (Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Apatity) acted as a co-author of our colleague.
Dr. Natalia Kabanova also appears as a co-author in the report of the research group of the FRC KSC RAS: "Na migration in the crystal structure of murmanite: ion exchange and high-temperature transformation."
