Professor Vladislav Blatov and his colleagues from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Artem Oganov and Pavel Bushlanov received a patent for the invention of a method for generating a random crystal structure using a database of periodic nets.The date of patent’s registration in the State Register of Inventions is July 16, 2020 The right holder is Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology.
The patented technical solution belongs to the field of crystal chemistry. This new computer-implemented method for generating crystal structure of a chemical compound eliminates the disadvantages of other methods for designing random crystal structures. The technical result lies in generating new periodic nets with lower symmetry. The new method is already being used in global optimization algorithms while generating crystal structures and new materials.
