The goal of the conference was to cover all modern areas of crystal science, such as general and theoretical crystal chemistry, experimental methods for studying the structures of minerals and inorganic compounds, and various aspects of crystallogenesis. The scientific program of readings included basic questions of crystal chemistry, and questions of studying the crystal chemistry and physical properties of new minerals and synthetic analogues, problems of theoretical and experimental modeling in crystal chemistry, genetic crystal chemistry and spectroscopy of minerals, studying the growth and morphology of new functional crystals. The conference with plenary, oral and poster presentations was attended by more than 70 experts and researchers in the field of crystal chemistry from all over Russia.
Prof. Vladislav Blatov presented a plenary lecture “Topological Methods and Big Data Analysis in Crystal Chemistry”. In the lecture, he talked about the current state of topological approaches to the processing of a large amount of experimental information, the prospects for the development of combined topological and DFT-methods, as well as how to use them in crystal chemistry and materials science.
