On November 5, Prof. Vladislav Blatov gave a public lecture at the plenary day of the SciCraft-Samara – School of Scientific Crafts. A three-day intensive for young scientists on the skills necessary for a successful career in science takes place at the Samara University from November 5 to 7, 2019.
The scientific and practical conference "School of Scientific Craft - 2019" is held for the fifth time and is an all-Russian interdisciplinary event: conferences are regularly held in Kazan, Samara, St. Petersburg. The school is organized by Eco-Vector. Among the topics discussed in 2019 there are science policy and grant funding for science, intellectual property and patents, scientometry, academic English and public speaking, promotion of publications in world electronic scientific databases and others.
The speakers are Victor Glukhov (Moscow), deputy general director of the eLibrary.Ru – scientific electronic library, Sergey Adonin (Novosibirsk), one of the best reviewers of the world in the field of chemical sciences according to Publons in 2018, Evgeni Bakin (Moscow), head of the Center for Academic Writing and others.
Prof. Vladislav Blatov in his lecture “What is science and can it be practiced in the province?” spoke about his experience in creating a world-class scientific laboratory in Samara. He talked about scientific ideas and their development, appearance of a modern scientist and the scientific process, grant contests and projects, the creation a working team and Samara Center for Theoretical Materials Science (SCTMS), publications in international journals, the organization of international events: scientific schools, conferences. He paid special attention to the conditions required for successful work of a research group in a province and for growing up competitive researchers from the students of Samara universities.
