22 August 2016

20160822-02The researchers of the Institute of Experimental Physics of Freiberg University of Mining and Technology (TUBAF, Germany) Dr. Tilmann Leisegang and Falk Meutzner have delivered a course of lectures “An introduction to crystallography: Through the diverse world of crystalline matter towards solid electrolytes”.

The course was dedicated to the significance of crystalline matter and included an introduction to crystallography. Basic terms and concepts, the experimental determination of crystal structures and specialities, such as aperiodic structures, were discussed. Examples of the influence of the crystal structure on the physical properties, ranging from rare-earth containing compounds to solid electrolytes, were presented together with theoretical approaches for evaluating crystal structure properties. The lectures also included practical exercises.
